The Islamic Center of Columbia opened the doors of its new mosque a year ago, months after arsonists burned the old one to the ground. Its worship, classes and outreach activities in Maury County did not stop, the center's president said. But neither have the fears and nightmares that followed its destruction. "As I look from the inside (of the new mosque) out, I wish we had no windows," said Daoud Abudiab, the center's president and one of its founders. "It would make it more secure." The first of three men found guilty of vandalizing and torching the old Islamic Center of Columbia was sentenced to just over 14 years in federal prison Monday.
