Dissident republicans bomb Belfast army base
Dissident republicans have mounted their second terror attack in less than a week in Greater Belfast.
An improvised bomb was thrown at an army base in the north of the Northern Ireland capital some time before 2am. No one was injured.
Army bomb disposal officers attended the scene of the explosion in the Ashfield Crescent area off the Antrim Road.
The base is the home of the North Irish Horse Regiment, a Royal Armoured Corps unit. Soldiers train at the camp every Wednesday, according to the Ministry of Defense.
The attack comes just under a week after republican group Oglaigh na hEireann admitted it put a boobytrap bomb under a woman's car last Friday in east Belfast.
