Falluja *A civilian is killed by Iraqi soldiers while he is heading to work. Iskandariya *Two insurgents are killed and another wounded while they try to plant a bomb which explodes prematurely. Karbala *Police arrest three suspects while they are planting bombs near a Shiite shrine. Nahrawan *Interior Ministry police commandos kill five suspected Sunni insurgents and capture 25 in a battle that claims the lives of eight police and wounds six others. Riyadh *Three civilians are killed by a roadside bomb. Tuz Khumato *The head of the education directorate escapes an assassination attempt when gunmen throw a hand grenade at his office. February 28 Amarah *Two British soldiers are killed by a car bomb targeting their patrol. March 2 Baghdad *An Iraqi Sunni political leader escapes an assassination attempt when gunmen open fire on his vehicle, killing one of his bodyguards and wounding five others. *Five people are killed and eight wounded when a bus they are traveling in is hit by an unknown blast. *Three people are killed and 10 others wounded by a roadside bomb planted near a police station. *A policeman is killed and another two injured by a roadside bomb attack. Basra *A Sunni imam is killed by gunmen. Baquba *A police lieutenant is shot dead by gunmen. Musayyib *Two policemen are seriously wounded when they are ambushed by gunmen. Salman Pak *One policeman is killed and another seriously wounded by a roadside bomb. March 3 Nahrawan *More than 50 suspected Sunni insurgents attack and kill a large number of Shiite workers, including three children. March 4 Baghdad *Seven people are killed and 20 injured when a mortar round hits a crowded market near a bus station. *Two civilians are killed and three policemen injured when a car bomb detonates near a police checkpoint. *Two mosque guards are killed and three wounded when gunmen attack a Sunni mosque. *A mortar round lands near a building in the green zone.
