Troops kill four Afghan civilians: provincial government

Western troops shot dead four civilians and wounded three others on Saturday when they opened fire on a vehicle in southern Afghanistan, officials said. A convoy of troops serving with the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) had opened fire at the civilian vehicle in the main southern province of Kandahar, said a statement from the provincial government. "As a result, two women, a child and a man were killed," a statement by the provincial government said. Two women and a man were injured, the statement said, adding one of the wounded women was in a critical condition. ISAF had no immediate information.
